A lot of interesting websites have appeared recently: Alt_Naval Photos This site has many images of alternate warship designs. Categories include ships never finished, ships designed but never built, hypotheticals, and “extremely hypothetical” designs. The category of designed but unbuilt ships includes “photos” of the British G3 and N3 classes, the US Montana class, the Japanese Super Yamato, and several destroyer and cruiser designs as well. The photos are of high quality, and the site also provides links to other interesting places. The creator doesn’t identify himself, but he’s done a service to anyone interested in hypothetical designs or just warships and naval history in general. http://www.geocities.com/alt_naval/notstarted.htm Thanks to Brooks Rowlett Go Navy! This site covers US Naval aviation in Japan. Among other things, it lists all current carrier deployments, a list of USN squadrons, and a seriously large number of great photos. www.ne.jp/asahi/gonavy/atsugi/go-navy604.html Thanks to Gerry Hamm and the HULL list Captain Dave’s Naval Wargame Page This site is run by Dave Spurlock, and has pages for every naval wargaming system. He’s recently added a page for the most important game, Command at Sea. www.dlspurlock.com The Aerial Reconnaissance Archives This site is run in England by the Aerial Reconnaissance Archives, the official repository of 5.5 million aerial reconnaissance photos taken by the UK during WWII. The potential for value historians and scenario designers is tremendous. www.evidenceincamera.co.uk International Journal of Naval History This site has original content articles on naval history, book reviews, and an impressive links page.
