These pictures were taken when two-thirds of the Pacific Fleet’s striking power was in port in San Diego undergoing upkeep and training. For the top picture they are from left to right Constellation, Carl Vinson (Everett, WA Homeport), Nimitz, and John C. Stennis (my ship). The lower photo is taken from the reverse angle, so just reverse the above order when looking at the ships from left to right (JCS being the first). My ship is easy to spot because it is the one that looks like it needs to have more time in the body and fender shop despite the large amount of work we have done to it since it got back in May from that little fracas in Afghanistan. It takes a lot of time to paint out all the black jet carbon and replace all the nonskid decking that the jets wear off the roof as they are taking off and landing.
