Land Attack Missiles in Harpoon

Land Target Attack Table

by Larry Bond

The increasing use of land attack cruise missiles by the US, and their potential use by other nations, has made them an important feature in Harpoon scenarios. Cruise missiles like the Tomahawk use a mix of inertial, GPS, TERCOM and DSMAC techniques to hit a target. While the seekers cannot be decoyed or jammed, generation ratings can still be used to describe their accuracy, as well as special capabilities and limitations. Chapter 5 of Harpoon describes Inertial and GPS guidance, but does not rate them or describe the chance of them hitting a land target.
