"Vonder Veapon" Idea Guide

by Larry L. Bond

Referees can use this an idea list and as a guide for reporting to the players on their hoped-for Vonder Veapons. It needs a lot of interpetation and adjuustment for a specific scenario, but its a place to start. If there are multiple outcomes listed, roll a die. A low roll can mean one of the outcomes. A higher roll can mean, two, three or all occur.

Weapons Development Results/Planes

In Development:

Unrealistic design meets real-world engineering: Reduce speeds, ceiling, range by 10%
. Engineers miscalculate. Design delayed while they look for the missing decimal point.
More room is found for fuel: Increase range by 10%.
New technology looks promising. Increase range, ceiling, or speeds by 10%

In Test:

Plagued with teething problems. Delay introduction.
Underpowered. Poor performance. Reduce speeds, ceiling, or maneuver rating.
Not as agile. Reduce maneuver rating.
New, more powerful engine available. A new engine makes everything better.

In First Combat Use:

Plane proves to be more fragile/robust than expected. Lower/Raise damage point value by two points.
Pilots find ways to overcome plane's shortcomings. Improve maneuver rating.
Field modification improves performance. Increase speeds, maneuver rating, range, or ceiling.
Field modification allows fitting of additional weapons.

Weapons Development Results/Ships

In Construction:

Unrealistic design meets real-world engineering: Reduce speed, armament by 10%.
Engineers miscalculate. Design delayed while they look for the missing decimal point.
New technology looks promsing. Upgrade weapons.

In Sea Trials:

Plagued with teething problems. Delay introduction.
    Underpowered. Poor performance. Reduce speed.
Excessive topweight. Remove some armament. Roll a die to see how much.
AA armament upgraded at the last minute.

In First Combat Use:

Ship proves to be more fragile/robust than expected. Lower/Raise damage point rating by 10%.
Field modification allows fitting of additional weapons.
