Remarks Two heavy cruisers laid down in April and June 1942 as Warships 300 and 301. In June '42, the slips were ordered cleared for aircraft carrier construction and 300 (as Ibuki) was launched May 43, while 301 was scrapped on the ways. If launched, she would have been named Kurama. Construction of Ibuki as a cruiser was stopped in Jun 43. Plans were made to convert her to a light carrier and construction resumed in 1944, but she was only 80% complete at war's end. Carried 30 DC, DC armament estimated. ANTIAIRCRAFT BATTERIES: Strength
