Russia is marketing the conventional version of the Shkval rocket-propelled torpedo, called the Shkval E. Stats are as follows:
Length: 8.2 m Weight: 2,700 kg Warhead: 140 kg Speed: 195 knots Fuze: Contact Guidance: None Range: 6.5 nm Max Launch Depth: 100 meters Launch Platforms: Ships, subs, fixed installations The weapon has gyro guidance only, like a standard WW II torpedo, meaning it can only be used against surface ships. While the warhead is not as large as other heavyweight torpedoes, only 140 kg of HE (35 damage points), the high speed will dramatically reduce the ability of a ship to maneuver to evade the weapon. From 5000 yards, good diesel sub firing range, travel time would be 45 seconds, as opposed to 3 min 20 sec for a 45-knot weapon. To resolve an attack with a Shkval torpedo, use the normal "Non-homing Torpedo Attack Tables" on pages 6-32/33, but divide the actual torpedo run by 4 before referring to the appropriate table. Example: If a Shkval were fired at a ship from 4 nm, the attack would be treated as if a regular torpedo had been fired from 1 nm.
