NOTICEAs we went to press it was announced that there will not be a reenactment of Waterloo in 2001. It is not known at this time if one will take place in 2005. The Battle of Waterloo will be re-enacted in June of 2001 and members of the 21e Regiment d'Infanterie de Ligne will represent the largest single line-unit at the event. Fusiliers of the 1er Compagnie from the UK, the 2e Compagnie from the Continent, and the 3e Compagnie from North America will combine to form a single battalion. If you would like to begin your Napoleonic re-enacting hobby with a bang, we urge you not to hesitate. Now is the time to join the 21e and begin preparing yourself and your kit. We do have loaner gear, but the quantity is limited. We will also visit Paris and the Musee d'Armee, Invalides and the tomb of Napoleon. If you wish to participate with the 3e Compagnie at this great event you need to contact sergent Mike Mathews at the address below. The 3e Compagnie will be participating in several North American events between now and next June and you must attend at least one of them and pass the safety and drill inspections. You need no prior reenacting experience. We will train you. Brigade Napoleon is a Napoleonic re-enactment organization in North America. Brigade Napoleon is open to any and all Troops of all nations, or to individuals of those units. We are an association of like minded friends, NOT a political body. Brigade Napoleon publishes a newsletter, Le Ban, to provide members and member units with a forum and to disseminate information on events, uniforms, and equipment. 21e Regt. d'Infanterie de Ligne, 3e Cie.

The main North American Napoleonic event for the year 2001 will be in Maryland, we are currently negotiating with the site. Contact any of the units at left for details. We will have a "School of the Soldier" for both French Allied and Coalition forces to prepare infantry and cavalry units for large scale opposed tacticals [like Waterloo]. We are planning on a sizable cavalry force so we can all work on forming square. There will also be tactical events and a period camp. Spectators are welcome. For information or to sign-up your unit or club visit our website, www.brigadepub.com/napoleon.html or you may enquire via e-mail napoleon@brigadepub.com. Or, if it is more convenient, contact any of the units listed at left.
