The Napoleonic Society of America is hosting its 15th Annual Napoleonic Conference and Antiques Bazaar at the Hotel Gouverneurs in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There will be a tour of the Napoleonic Exhibition (with more than 300 artifacts) at the Stewart Museum on the island of Sainte Helene in the St. Lawrence River (see separate entry on this exhibition below). One of the items on display in the Napoleonic exhibition at the Stewart Museum on the island of Sainte Helene in Montreal, Canada, is this comb tiara worn by Napoleon's sister Pauline.

The Stewart Museum, a historic and cultural Montreal landmark situated at the Fort on the island of Sainte Helene, is hosting an exhibition of several hundred everyday objects that surrounded Napoleon in his daily life. These include works of art, furniture, personal papers and military decorations, giving visitors an intimate look at the Emperor's life. The collection was prepared under the guidance of Bernard Chevallier, curator and director of the Malmaison Museum in France. A tour of the battlefields of Napoleon's 1805-1813 German campaigns is scheduled by Military History Tours. James Arnold, author of Crisis on the Danube and Napoleon Conquers Austria, is one of the tour hosts. To receive registration materials with itinerary, etc., call 800-722-9501.

5-12 November 1999

A tour of Napoleonic sites in England and France is scheduled by Valor Tours Ltd. (see ad on page 76). Stops include Portsmouth to visit Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, the Duke of Wellington's home in London, and a bicentennial commemoration of the coup of Brumaire in Paris when Napoleon became the leader of France. The seventh annual Napoleonic Fair will again be held on a Sunday in central London at the Royal National Hotel, Bedford Way (off Russell Square), from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., hosted by Greenhill Books, publishers of the Napoleonic Library series. The one day event will include a dealer room with dozens of vendors offering books, militaria, prints, etc. There will also be wargame demonstrations. Lecture presentations will again be part of the program. Admission is £ 5 by catalogue (available at the door) with a prize drawing.

5-16 June 2000 The re-enactment of the 200th anniversary of Marengo will take place on 14 June next year near the battlefield in Italy. (However, the planned 185th anniversary re-enactment of Waterloo has been postponed until 2001.) Valor Tours has scheduled an excursion which includes the Marengo re-enactment (see ad on page 76).
