I arose at 3:30 AM and worked until 1:00 PM in anticipation of this convention. After a three hour drive, I was in Tampa. The convention was held in a well-kept up suburban hotel. My first game was Beneventurn - a critical battle between Rome and Pyrrhus of Epirus and his successor army. This time Pyrrhus won. The next day I battled Ottomans versus SYW Russians and was able to eke out a victory leading the men in green with red waistcoats. My final battle was the Russian Revolution. The allied interventionists and a battalion of White officers were entrenched behind barbed wire defending a Russian factory with the help of a gunboat. The Battle was bloody with my victory only occurring when my Russians were able to incinerate a Model T Ford with our last battalion. Post battle review forced me to admit that the machine gun rules were not bloody enough (with 90% casualties!). Craig Martelle was a very good host at the convention and everyone was polite and friendly. I bought some good books and I saw some great games like a South Pacific Island, Napolconics, French & Indians, and a lot of Ancients. The next convention is in April and deserves to double in size because of good weather, good games, and good people.
