Editorial

I can't explain what happened with the bulk mailing for MWAN #87. I sent it out around March 28th and began getting letters and phone calls from MWANers who had not received it about three to four weeks later. Around the end of April/beginning of May, MWANers were informing me that they had received it. Took quite a long time to get out to everyone. I hope you received your copy. If not, let me know and I shall send you another copy with the bulk mailing of MWAN #89.

My friend Clem Clemens, who lives about a mile away, received his copy a month after I mailed it out! I should again mention that I utilize bulk mail, as most magazines do, so as to be able to afford to publish MWAN. Hobby shop copies are not sent bulk mail; thus they arrive at the shop about a week after mailing and I mail both the bulk mailing and the hobby shop copies the same day. Thus, you will see MWAN in the hobby shops prior to receiving your copy if you are a subscriber. It does get expensive for me to mail another copy when I receive a letter/phone call stating that you haven't received your issue yet. I try to hold off sending copies off till the next bulk mailing. I hope you understand.

You'll note in this issue that wargaming legend Fred Vietmeyer died last month. I never met Fred, but corresponded with him for a number of years. A fine gentleman who loved our hobby. Our condolences to the family.

No Response

One of the things which irritate me, as well as other wargamers, is when companies do not respond to requests for updates regarding an order. One may be really busy/sick/etc., however, it is still possible to let a consumer know what is happening. I would urge manufacturers, companies, and stores to take the time to respond to such requests. By the way, MWAN shall no longer be carrying the FALCON MINIATURES ads.

I had plans to do a four page editorial this issue; however, I have too much to fit in. Please don't take this as an indication that I have enough articles; there are usually enough articles to fill up 192 pages with perhaps one or two left over, and that is the case this time. Please keep those articles and letters coming!
