Figures available from Steve Shaw, 19, Brechin Rd. Kirrienuir, Angus, Scotland, DDS 4BX or DIVISION AFTER DIVISION, 11107 Finchley Rd., Louisville, KY 40243. Steve Shaw has sent some finely crafted figures and I'm happy to review them. They are all, except one, Feudal subjects and I'll deal with that one first. ECW1. Mounted Trooper, lobster helmet, breast plate, separate sword arm: The separate sword arm is a new venture. I find a dab of Evosrik on each part and left to cure for 15 minutes then offered up, "sticks the bits" well and in 24 hours (left alone) is rock hard. The good thing about separate components is that one can put them in practically any position (the arm is straight up to straight down and any position inbetween giving a unit of them a very individual look. The cloak ripples in the wind very convincingly and the boots, mane, tail and horse harness are finely shown. The horse's gait is trotting. Great! THE ANGLO NORMANS: AN1 Norman HC/Knights, lance & shield, 4 variations: AN2 Pack of 10 assorted, sword, mace, axe, club arms: AN2 allows gamers tc substitute the lance arm for any of the pack variations. The pack consists of mail armoured riders with nasal reinforced helmets with kite shields set at different angles and horses either cantering or trotting. The high board pommels and cantles of the saddles are well shown and the detail are crisply cast. I can say, in fact, to date, I have never seen any flash on Feudal castings. Lively well modelled figures. I'm glad the one piece cavarly are "on the way back". I have some very early Minifig Napoleonic cavalry one piece castings and they have a certain charm. AN3 Norman HI Spear and Shield: Air carry the "boar spear" style spear (i.e. with cross bar) and have kite shields. Two are wallking forward, twc are standing "at ease". There is a chessman-like feel to these figures, a bit like the Lewis chess set only 250 pounds at the British Museum;. Collect some of these as pawns, use AN1 as the Knights, badger Steve tc produce bishops, Kings, Queens, and rooks and you'll ha,.e your own 15mm chess set. Draw your own board to scale on card. Sorry B.M! Now to draw a few of these. Send an SASE & ask for an infantry sample if you really want to get the feel of these figures - Back to MWAN #67 Table of Contents Back to MWAN List of Issues Back to MagWeb Magazine List © Copyright 1994 Hal Thinglum This article appears in MagWeb.com (Magazine Web) on the Internet World Wide Web.
