Review by Howard Whitehouse
Battle Honors is a brand new British company who have recently put out their first line of products, a series of infantrymen in 15mm dressed in the stovepipe shakos that characterized Wellington's army in the Peninsula. This is unusual, since most manufacturers choose to depict their Napoleonic British Infantry in the "Belgic" cap worn at Waterloo; furthermore, the new series is notable for its use of fine quality pewter in the production rather than cheaper metals. The result is a superlatively high standard of detail in the casting, with almost no "flash". The figures are little gems. They are of similar build and stature to the Hertiage/Empire range, tending to be comparatively small and slender - though not unacceptibly so - when paraded next to their stalwart comrades by Minifigs or Jacobite. They have tremendous character; the officer in bicornehat swaggers with aristocratic hauteur, while the ensign is quite the best I've seen. The full range at this point consists of:
PB2-Centre Co sergeant PB3-Centre Co advancing PB4-Centre Co firing PB5-Centre Co loading PB6-Centre Co drummer PB7-Ensign w/standard PB8-Light Coy Officer PB9-Flank Coy advancing PB10-Flank Coy Firing PB11-Flank Coy loading PB12-Light Inf Officer PB13-Light Inf advancing PB14-Light Inf firing PB15-Light Inf loading PB16-Light Inf bugler PB19-Rifleman bugler PB20-Rifleman officer PB21-Highlander advancing PB22-Highlander firing PB23-Highlander officer PB24-Highlander piper PB25-Highlander Ensign w/standard Also out are SN1-British Officer with walking stick; SN2-Expired French Line Infantryman; SN3-Expired French Line Infantryman. Prices are 11p each a penny or so above "standard" British prices. As a new business Battle Honors aren't yet geared to take plastic money, so you'll have to arrange a sterling check with your bank; if you like, simply get an English five pound or ten pound note from a currency dealer. Airmail postage is 50%. Battle Honors are at Samuel Cottage, 5 Moors Lane, Oreton, Cleabury Mortimer, Kidderminster, Worc. DY14 8RH, Great Britian (tel: 074-632-627). Highly recommended.
