Rusty Scabbard Miniatures
Company Formed

by Hal Thinglum

I just talked to Rich Smethurst, of Ral Partha, who passed on some veryinteresting news for miniatures gamers. The Rusty Scabbard 513 E. Maxwell St., Lexington, KY, 40502, a long-time miniatures store, has purchased the 30mm line of SYW and French-Indian War figures from Britanica Miniatures as well as the 20mm line of ACW, Napoleonics and Colonials. Ral Partha will be doing the casting so we can expect a fine line!

There are 96 different figures in the SYW/French Indian War line, some supplied with separate weapons. They are due to be released at the Milwaukee Convention in early October. I have some of the 30mm French and they are fine figures. They will be called Rusty Scabbard Miniatures (RSM). Foot figures will run .70 each, a most reasonable price for 30mm figures. There are also some guns in this fine line but I do not know the cost. Rich related that the line also contains Prussians for the SYW.

Rich also related that the Boer War (25mm) will be released sometime after Thanksgiving. There will be a new pack of mounted boers, guns including Pom-Poms, British infantry with command and more cavalry with puttees, helmet coverings, and Enfield rifles so these British can be used for later Colonial actions. They also plan on expanding the Sudan line and will start with providing dismounted cavalry in skirmish positions.

Eventually, these dismounted figures will be provided for all Colonial figures they produce. The dismounted Indian cavalry are close to be being ready for release. Good news from Ral Partha for colonial gamers!
