The suggestions for the special issue topic for Volume Four were extremely varied and covered most periods of historical miniatures gaming. It would appear, however, that a number of individuals were interested in having the special issue devoted to innovations in wargaming; this would include articles on the rationale behind unitizing certain gaming mechanics (i.e. firing, melee, movement, morale, command control, etc) as well as methods of adding increasing enjoyment to our wargames (i.e. role-playing, boardgaming, solo-wargaming, postal play, etc.). This is, I grant you, a rather board subject, however, it should be of interest to virtually every reader. It would be advantageous, to the readership, if writers submitting articles on this subject included a wargame account of the ideas being present although this remains optional, of course. I think this is potentially a most interesting special issue subject and I expect a virtual avalanche of articles. I will as usual, make every attempt to print everything submitted on the subject, within MWAN's financial constraints. Please have any special issue articles to me by February 1st, 1986 as they will appear in Volume Four, Number 4, as has become traditional. I look forward to hearing from all of you in response to this matter.
