March. In like a lioness and out like a lamb. It sure was that way for me. "The Black Baroness" von Richthofen flew out to review her sons of Deutschland full of vim and vigor! At the Battle of Britain game run at The Last Square's Invitational, my squadrons of deadly Messerschmitt ME-109 and 110 hunting parties and HE-111 bombers blackened the British skies. Alas, Bristol was socked in no less than three times. So, while the cowards hid under cover of fog, the dastardly RAF flew out and shot down every last one of my lovely planes. Not to be socked in by depression, I drove off to Cold Wars full of hopes of revenge and redemption. Bill and Ray Taylor came to my rescue with a rousing game, Last Boat out of Khartoum, 1884. Their home rules were easy to learn so that players could get down to the business of escaping down the Nile in "women and children first" typical British heroic fashion. Those playing the locals did a super job of tearing up the British defense ... that is, until they came upon my expert female sharpshooters and pugilists. "God shall have revenge upon you this day!" yelled my Bible-thumping female Foundry figure as a native threw her over the side of a riverboat. And she was right. Never mess with a Victorianperiod British female toting a loaded parasol. Hopefully MWAN Magazine will see Bill and Ray's rules published in a future issue for everyone to enjoy. At Cold Wars, and at the Game Manufacturers' Association (GAMA) Trade Show the following week, we gave away copies of MWAN Magazine Issue 128. I hope that every copy found a home with a happy gamer. The positive feedback and well-wishing from all of you was humbling for me. Hal did no small thing in publishing MWAN Magazine for so long. To have so many be so appreciative of Don's, Michael's, and my efforts to carry on the torch was wonderful and inspiring. Time marched on quickly as April brought Little Wars to the Chicagoland area. Just like last year, my female gangster was taken down in cold-blooded cowardice - shot in the back as she was crossing the road. As I bemoaned my figurine's fate, my fellow baddies avenged me with a gangster-style execution. Al Capone, eat your heart out. It's Mr. Cosentino's "Kind of Town" now as he ran his beautiful Bootlegger game for many happy players. I also have to thank Mike Shay for running a rousing archeological scenario using the Sword and the Flame rules. In my first overall command role ever, I led the Egyptian resistance fighters in a rebellion to recover ancient artifacts taken from our land. Alas, while the British pummeled us from one side, the archeologists proved the most deadly foe of all; a rousing victory for the academics. While this editorial may go out quietly, like the archeologists did when sneaking off with our artifacts, the rest of this issue will be sure to keep you on your toes with page after page of what you have told us to bring to you. Enjoy!
