Greetings from the Subscriptions desk, and welcome to MWAN Issue #128! This is a very exciting time for Don, Michael and myself, and we're glad to be entrusted with bringing you MWAN Magazine.

As I was reading "The Six Year Itch" by Charley Elsden, I found myself caught up in the nostalgia of playing as a youth. I don't consider myself to have been born a wargamer like Charley, but his article did bring back memories of my childhood gaming experiences. With my father having served as a Marine in the Korean War, I grew up in a household interested in "things military." Like any other girl I had Barbie and all her friends. Only they were caught up in the women's lib movement of the 70's. G.I. Joe's castoff fatigues outfitted my female platoon (after some altering to fit better), and the Barbie Brigade was born. Malibu Barbie was the communications officer, while Ballerina Barbie liked shooting anything that moved. Whatever the job, my Barbies were equal to the task. The best was when my brother's friend brought over G.I. Joe's submarine and we ran elaborate underwater offensive maneuvers in the pool. In the evenings, while our toys dried out, we would glue ourselves to the TV and watch Black Sheep Squadron and M*A*S*H.

Yes, I know, this isn't normal behavior for a girl is it? I do admit that being able to identify a Sherman tank by its tracks and being able to pick out the Corsair in a field of P-51 Mustangs at the FAA Air Show does tend to set me apart from the "In" crowd. But being in charge of subscriptions for MWAN Magazine has given me a mission in life: to help find the strategy gamer hiding in everyone and to cater to that through the fantastic articles and rule sets found in MWAN Magazine!

True to that mission, we posted a poll on The Miniatures Page (www.theminiaturespage.com) asking what should be changed, if anything, with MWAN Magazine. The overwhelming response was to change nothing. So that's what we are doing. Hal has passed on the MWAN torch to us and we are continuing on with it. Yet, simply because MWAN Magazine is going on with business as usual doesn't mean that your thoughts and opinions aren't important to us. I am here to help make MWAN Magazine what you want it to be, and to ensure that each issue reaches your hands in a timely manner. If I'm doing that, then your MWAN experience will be the best it can be. So whether I am walking the game floor at Historicon (www.hmgs.org), am coordinating events at Rock-Con (www.rockcon.com), or am assisting with registration at Little Wars (www.little-wars.com), I am on the lookout for intel from you, the readers of MWAN Magazine.

That said, I have to ready my flight gear for a big mission. I'm flying Messerschmitts over London in a Battle of Britain game this weekend at the Last Square's Invitational Convention. Hurricanes and Spitfires beware!
