The Host of Islam

Army List

By Jon Laughlin

This is the first Mega 15mm army I started painting. It was the first army to have over 1,000 troops, and was the largest army in my 10,000 Miniature Monster Battle. It all started out with a 1250 point boxed Minifig Manluk Army which was followed by a 1000 point boxed TTG Arab Conquest Army, then by a myriad of purchases from Stone Mountain, Essex, TTG, Irregular, and other Minifig purchases. In whatever range I could find suitable looking figures, I would purchase them. I got all sorts of stuff from Colonial, Moghul India as well as from the Crusades and other historical lines. I have divided them into Islamic and Turkish Islamic troops Here's what I have:

ISLAMIC - 117 mounted Camelry, 6 light camelry, one elephant with three crew (Zin Howdah), 147 heavy cavalry, 30 mounted cavalry, 132 light cavalry, 48 heavy infantry with spear, 12 heavy infantry with crossbow, 48 heavy infantry (one-half with spear, one-half with crossbow), 194 M2 Sudanese Archers, 136 M2 infantry with spear, 48 M2 Archers, 24 Ghazi light/M2 infrantry, 24 light/MJ infantry two-handed swordsmen, 168 light/M2 infantry with spear, 12 light/M2 infantry with bow, 48 light/M2 infantry with crossbow, 68 light infantry with bow, 74 light infantry with javelin, and 34 light infantry with sling.

TURKISH ISLAMIC - Seven elephants with three crew astride, 16 super heavy cavalry, 123 extra heavy cavalry with lance and bow, 126 heavy cavalry with lance and bow, 24 light cavalry with lance and bow, 24 light cavalry with spear and bow, 72 light horse archers, 3 bombards with four crew, 48 heavy infantry with spear and bow, 48 light infantry with spear, 18 light infantry with bow, and 16 light infantry with bombs!

This is a fun army to own. Not only is it colorful, but with the wide variety of troop types almost any kind of battle is possible. They are great for campaigns.
