This CD is a must for individuals hooked on wargaming, either from the good old days of SPI or the more modern period. More importantly, it's an excellent tool for individuals who are instructional designers or military history researchers. War Games 2000 comes with an impressive arsenal of firepower for the war game collector, designer or aficionado. It has web reference links for historical research, games design, on-line rules sets, and even game clubs and organizations. For those fans of Jim Dunnigan and the work he's done, there's a full copy of The Complete Wargames Handbook, copies of the Art of War, the primary works of von Clausewitz, just to name a few. If you're an instruction designer there's articles and support materials for creating both commercial and military simulations. If you're simply a gamer, there's copies of rules sets for miniatures on the CD as well as one's available via the web. Some of the rules are some of the "classics," from S. Craig Taylor and Arnold Hendrick. I found the bibliographies section very useful for the historical researcher, saving hours searching for those hard to find references. War game collectors and buffs will love the comprehensive database of wargames. Fully searchable, it makes all of those hours spent on EBay attempting to rebuild the game collection of your youth a little more productive and worthwhile. This database even has the latest on computer games as well. Finally, as icing on the proverbial cake, War Games 2000 has a copy of Aide de Camp 2 which allows you to play some of those wonderful older games on-line without worrying about having counters knocked on the floor between sessions. There's even a playable demo of The Operational Art of War by Talonsoft. The bottom line, if you are a war gamer or educator/developer; this product is an invaluable asset to have tucked away. It has enough to keep even the most hard core gamer's interest piqued, while at the same time is an excellent reference tool.
