Sekigahara

Samurai DBA Battle

by Bill Boyle

The Eastern Armies under Tokugawa Ieyasu defeats the Western Armies under the uncertain leadership of Ishida Mitsunari. Treachery and lack of command control caused the battle to become a rout. The Western Army was slightly larger, and either side could have won. Whoever does win becomes SHOGUN, and inherits a unified Japan.

SETUP: As on map with individual units deployed as clan leaders see fit. The Western Armies set up first.

TERRAIN: The mountains are impassible. The streams and village are for esthetics only. The Nakasendo Road is a road and the East end of the road is the Eastern Armies base line for retreat.

TREACHERY: After set up and planning by each side, each clan Army rolls secretly on the treachery chart. Add I to roll if Eastern Army. Add 1 if second or third roll.

TREACHERY CHART

    1 Neutral
    2 Neutral
    3 Back winner
    4 Betrayal
    5 Revenge past slight
    6 Loyal
    7 Loyal
    8 Loyal

RESULTS:

Neutral: The clan army does not move or attack unless opposing forces are within two bounds movement.
Back Winner: The player may choose which side to back. No future roll will affect choice. If you back the wrong side, you are the big loser of the scenario.
Betrayal: Whichever side you start with, you betray. No future roll affects this decision.
Revenge past slight: When this is rolled, player must attack nearest enemy army.
Loyal. Player may act as he sees fit and is committed to his side.

Eastern and Western Army leaders can request additional rolls, one roll per turn. The leader selects a clan army and requests a roll. The clan army leader rolls in secret.
