Rules for Four Year Olds

By Mark Brown

These rules were created for four year old kids in mind, hence the name. They are fast, simple and designed to end a battle quickly - before the Power Rangers or Scooby Doo comes on TV.

Sequence of Play-or as close as possible

    1. Divide the armies. Attempt to get all of the same color on the same side.

    2. Movement-Roll d6. 1,2,3 child moves, 4,5,6 Daddy attempts to move. ( I use dice with pips to have the kids count)

    3. Firing. Roll 1d6. The number that comes up is the number of dice that is thrown at the opponent's troops. Please emphasis target, remove breakable and assume a covered position as some rounds have a habit of going astray.

    4. Morale. NONE! This is a fight to the finish. And try explaining the different levels of morale to a 4 year. There are some rules this 35 year old can't comprehend.

Many of my games are now with my son and his friend after school in the playroom. It is great fun and allows me to hobby and enjoy my kids. Do be prepared to assume the role of referee as intramural firefights on occasion break out or the cheerleaders/spectator, played by my daughters, get caught in the crossfire. One note, invest in some plastic swords for the commanders to wear for the heroic fight to the dead at the end
