The Bunker Wargaming Holiday Centre
7 Bramble Dene, Woodthorpe YORK Y02 2RL

The Bunker is run by wargamer Shaun Mclaughlin and operates at weekends, usually the last weekend of each month, although other weekends may be arranged with advance agreement.

The Bunker is situated in a quiet residential area of York and is a heated room, being an Aladdin's Cave of wargame items! The centre of the room is dominated by a 16' x 4' table and all the surrounding walls have shelves jammed pack with 20mm figures, vehicles, boats and terrain. There are a huge number of conversions to feast your eyes on, and too many armies to mention although the Cybermen and Brandenburg gate do spring to mind.... Even more models (and not a few books) are stashed under the table, a gamers paradise indeed!

The Bunker is designed for around four gamers playing preselected games. The table is usually split into two halves, with a main feature game set up on one half and a back up game set up on the other. Thus if one game finishes early, the other can be started with the minimum of delay.

Visiting gamers arrive on Friday night are introduced and fed and briefed on the weekends gaming. If traveling by public transport (York is wcll connected by rail' arrangements can be made for pickup from the station. For Friday and Saturday nights gamers are billeted in a nearby inn the price including breakfast. Bar meals are also available as of course is drink ... Battle starts at the Bunker at 9am on both days continuing through to early evening on the Saturday and 4pm on the Sunday. Midday and evening meals are provided as required.

Anyone who has played in York wargamers club games at the conventions will know that the emphasis is on FUN. with simple rules, superbly detailed terrain (spot the dead chickens, beer cans and kitchen sink) that is worthy of appearance in Military Modeling and entertaining scenarios, many based on (in) famous films and TV series! All in all an excellent value for money venue, for details of forthcoming dates contact Shaun on 0 1904705 399.
