4. Notes

a) Radios are in all AFV and other CHQs.

b) Infantry have no A/T grenades. No HEAT or APCR rounds available.

c) 2nd wave units were carried in transport shps and had to use returning 1st wave barges for unloading.

d) On steep beaches the barges ground 250m out, and up to 750m out on shallow beaches. Vehicles (except M/C) and horses cannot be unloaded until 15-45 minutes after beaching due to the tide. Bow ramps take 5-20 minutes to set up if not under fire.

e) Amphibious tanks (TauchPz.III, IV, and SchwimmPz.II) are released 500-1000m off shore.

f) Guns mounted on barges can be used for direct fire whilst approaching shore and whilst beached. It was intended that they would be dismounted and pulled onshore whenever possible.

g) Every battalion has a CBW recce/decontamination section in a specially equipped Sdkfz 11 or on foot attached, as British forces had stocks of mustard gas, and every intention of using it!
