4. Notes

a) Radios are in all tanks and armoured cars, and other PHQs.
b) Infantry squads may have Hawkins 75 A/T grenades.
c) The 7th Armoured Division has the 4th Light Armoured Brigade of 4th/8th Hussars, Royal Scots Greys Armoured Regiments, 2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry Armoured Car Regiment, 1st KRRC Motor Battalion; the 131st Queens Infantry Brigade detached from 44th Division of the 1st/5th, 1st/6th, 1st/7th Infantry Battalions; the 22nd Armoured Brigade of the 1st RTR, 5th RTR, 4th County of London Yeomanry Armoured Regiments and the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade Motor Battalion. At division there is the 11th Hussars Armoured Car Regiment.
In addition the 44th Carrier Recce Regiment of the 44th Infantry Division was attached to the division, to form a special mine-clearing unit for Operation Lightfoot on minefields codenamed "January" and "February" in the south of the line.
d) This list shows the division's strength on 23rd October 1942 for the battle of El Alemein.
e) By October 30th division had been withdrawn to reserve, with tank losses amounting to at least: 4/8th Hussars: 17x Stuart; Scots Greys: 9+ tanks; 4th CLY and 1st RTR: 31 tanks. All six Scorpion flails and many Carriers in the 44th Regiment were knocked out. The attached units in the 44th Recce Regiment were soon re-assigned to their parent regiments.
f) Artillery OP is in Universal Carrier, truck, turretless Marmon-Herrington, or Stuart III tank.
g) Issue of Bishops and Deacons is not certain, may be replaced by towed equivalent.
