3. Notes

a) The United States of Belgium rose up in revolt against their Austrian rulers, and formed an army for a while as listed above in 1790.
b) The revolt was also known as the Brabantine Revolution.
c) Cavalry are assumed to be medium type dragoons that cannot skirmish.
d) The Belgian Legion was meant to be British manpower under the British commander Bath but in practice was filled out by Belgian volunteers.
e) Troops fought reasonably well against the Austrians, and should be classed as second rate to average line, with the Belgian Legion and the Canaries Battalion as the best of the infantry. Infantry used typical 18th Century 3 deep line tactics, with march columns for distant manouevring, and squares against cavalry.
