5. Notes

a) Radios are in all AFV and other PHQ, when working. No night fighting equipment is available.
b) Infantry have no disposable LAW or A/T grenades.
c) The 6 Infantry Divisions each have 2 Brigades each of 3 battalions.
d) The Transport Battalion is equipped with (D6): 1: OT-64A, 2-3: OT-62A, 4-6: BTR-152 or BTR-50.
e) French mortars may no longer be serviceable.
f) The Independent Infantry Brigades are similar except that they have no mortars or 106mm M40, and no other Brigade support.
g) AK47 assault rifles may be replaced by SKS carbines.
h) The APC allocation may be concentrated to produce one mechanised brigade in two of the Infantry Divisions.
i) Towed artillery and AA are usually static dug in, but may be truck drawn if using APCs or trucks to carry infantry.
j) Under Iranian influence, the number of RPG-7 may be increased to 2 per squad (6 per platoon) by 1990.
k) The Independent Brigades are very poor quality garrison units, good at terrorising locals but little use in a major combat.
