4. Notes

    a) Radios are in all AFV and other PHQs.
    b) Infantry may have RKG-3M A/T grenades, and possibly RPG-18 after 1987.
    c) Some battalions have BTR-152 instead of BTR-60PB, and some may have BTR50PK.
    d) The 5 Mechanised Brigades have 1 Tank Battalion and 3 Mechanised Battalions each.
    e) FAPLA are the armed wing of the MPLA, the Angolan government, in combat against UNITA (List AF11M) and occasional South African and South-West Africa Territory Forces.
    f) From 1987 up to 1 company per Mech Battalion can be in BMP-1, with 8 man squads.
    g) From 1986 the Sa-14 can be replaced by Sa-16, and Sa-7 by Sa-14.
