Good morning gentlemen. Sadly, this is my last address to the Chapter as your great and benevolent President. In October we held our Chapter elections, and a brand new administration will take office January 1st. Let me be the very first to give a hearty congratulations to the new officers and wish them God-speed as they begin to lead our HMGS/PSW into new adventures. Here are the election winners; Marcelo Figueroa --President
Among the many candidates for the various offices, we have added the glamorous position of "Grunt-at-large." These special volunteers have made themselves available for all the Chapter's filthy, dirty, demeaning, rotten jobs that no one else would dare touch. Good luck guys! In October, we also held our MiniWars; The Fall Campaigns wargaming convention, and I must say it was a great time. HMGS/PSW hosted the convention's special guest Philip Viverito, co-author of the ancient's rules, "Classical Hack." Phil hosted his monster 25mm game of Alexander's Siege of Tyre. This beautiful event was always filled through both Saturday and Sunday. Phil is truly one of the better gentlemen of our hobby and was a great host, answering mountains of questions and handling "discussions" with patience and good humor. Many new converts to Classical Hack were made over that weekend! Not all of the qames hosted at Miniwars awarded prizes to the players. Here are the winners of those games that did; Bill Witthan's GASLIGHT sci-fi game - Tim Daun, (best dressed winner- Pat Finerty).
President's Award For the past two years I have awarded what I thought was the best game hosted at our full two day conventions. I have called this the President's Award. This was judged on the quality of the figures used, the terrain, and the knowledge by the host of the rules and handouts. I have given the winner $50.00 in Old Glory certificates or in cash and a brass plaque displaying his achievement. I don't know if the new administration will continue this tradition. I truly hope so, it is a fine way to encourage better games at our cons. Fall 2003 winner: Bill Witthans Bill's GASLIGHT Victorian Era sci-fi game was absolutely beautiful his tropical island terrain was great. His model steam vehicals and infantry was really Hollywood quality. But the crown glory was the 25mm German Zeppelin model that flew over the table and lead the German attack. Bill's good humor and extensive knowledge of the rules made his game a standing room only event. I give a round of applause to a great game and a fine asset to our Chapter. Congratulations!
