Minutes from the HMGS-PSW Chapter Meeting, April 12, 2003

Quorum was achieved with all Members of the Board present at 4:00PM (approximately).

Issues Discussed

Memberships:

75 members renewed their memberships on this day. There were others still outstanding as of this date. Membership fees are increasing to $25 for a new membership. The cost to renew memberships after the initial $25 membership fee is $20 per year. Reasons for membership dues increase: increasing newsletter cost (printing and mailing) and website costs.

Website:

HMGS-PSW has its own website (www.hmgs-psw.com). It is professionally done and the website is being updated every three to four months. It is considered to be an experiment. The downside is that it is costing the Chapter money. The possibility of website maintenance being a volunteer position was brought up. The website has attracted positive comments from a number of people and a new member was gained due to the website. This man lives in Massachusetts.

Tax Exempt Status:

The State of California does not care unless the Chapter is taking in more than $20,000 per year. Federal non profit organization status is presently being worked on. There was also the issue of the HMGS logo being used by the different chapters. More details will be worked out in the future.

Treasury:

$4800 in the account with an additional $1200 on the spot due to membership renewals, soda sales, chip sales, etc.

Speakers:

The Board is still working on a guest speaker although suggestions have been made regarding having a war veteran speak. This topic is still being debated.

Elections:

October con will be the time when elections will be held.

Upcoming conventions:

Don't forget our upcoming conventions in July and October!

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 4:30PM
