Good Morning Gentlemen, We are indeed a busy Chapter. The first ever HMGS/PSW "Minicon" is over. Battlefront game from the successful WWII theme day Sitting here thinking on it now, I must say that it was a smashing success. I was surprised by the large number of WWII naval games that were played. I believe naval games may have out numbered the land games. I don't have the final attendance numbers, because many people left after the morning games were over and new people came in for the evening rounds. I can also happily report that the front desk signed up several new members. All Honor and Glory to Bill Witthans who ran his science fiction game all day for the kids, and from what I could see of it, everyone had a fun time. I want to thank all of you who worked hard to put this little experiment together and make it the fun event it was for our Chapter. I want to thank Steve Lucky, Norm and Alex for having enough faith in us to come and run their dealer tables for an event that, we have to admit, was a complete gamble. I want to give a very big round of applause to hardy souls Joe Nacchio, Steve Verdoliva, and Chris Snell for working Friday night to clean up the Boy Scout Hall, setup tables and equipment, then stay Saturday night after all the gaming was over, to tear it all down and pack our stuff back into storage. Chris came out and worked even after injuring himself at his job that Friday afternoon! The merchants again gave out certificates to use at the minicon! Thanks again! The Winners were: In the GASLIGHT Science Fiction Game hosted by Bill Witthans, the winners were: Steve Gausche- certificate from Webster enterprises. Ted Arovske- certificate from Webster. In the Command at Sea game hosted by Steve Thorne and Tim Charlesworth, the winners were: Steve Kilgore- certificate from Webster Frank Villiaorad- certificate from Webster In the Invasion of Thailand game hosted by Mark Canu and Robert Runnels, the winners were: Kim Harris- certificate from Scale Specialties Marco Quesada- certificate from Scale Specialties The merchants all said they would come out and support our next "Minicon" set for July, as well as supporting our regular full "Miniwars" convention this April. Here are some of the upcoming games: Alex Webster has a large Warhammer Ancient Battles Game he will run for the kids.
Watch for the March issue of the MiniMessenger for a PEL of the convention. At this February's ORCCON convention held at the Westin Hotel, our HMGS/PSW again dominated the Historicals gaming. Robert Runnels hosted a great Big Battles DBA tourney. Chuck Duggie, Danny Jones and Steve Phenow ran great Ancients. Tim Daun, Chris Snell, Joe Nacchio, Steve Verdoliva and many more ran Modern Arab-Israeli battles. Alan Hughes, and Jim Svette ran beautiful 15mm WWII games. Well Done all!
