Well gang, during the chapter meeting at the last convention, several interesting topics were discussed. There was some spirited debate and that is good. After all, this should be a democratic process. One topic that came up was putting the newsletter on the web or distributing it by e-mail (shudder ... ). This did not seem to be a popular suggestion. Thank goodness! We believe that the majority of the HMGS membership appreciates the newsletter in written form. It does cost money, but then again, what is your membership paying for besides the conventions? However, we will begin providing past issues of the newsletter to the officers for inclusion on the website. Another topic that came up for discussion was themes for the some of the conventions. This idea did not seem to be popular, but the officers want to give it a try. It seems the major concern amongst the members was that some folks might not show up for theme days if they aren't interested in the theme. Steve Verdoliva and Mark Parker assured us that there would be plenty of space for all periods on theme days, but the games supporting the theme would get preference. This seems logical, since so much space in the Boy Scout Hall goes unused anyway. Finally, more conventions at the Boy Scout Hall are going to be added. The membership seemed divided on reducing the length of some conventions to a single day. The editors prefer a compromise. We believe that the two original conventions should remain 2-day events in deference to those who have long journeys to the convention site . What do you think??
