The Election Page

HMGS/PSW

by Steve Phenow

Fellow Members,

It's time to exercise our right to chose and set the tone of our club for the next term.

Because there were two platforms that were similar yet different, I gave each party a title based on the opening statement of each position paper.

These are: It's Your Choice, for one party, and You Deserve a Choice, for the other.

I suggest you read each candidates qualifications carefully and each party's statement thoroughly, before making your choice. Because of the similarity in party's names it is possible to be confused.

The newsletter does not endorse either party, both party's statements and positions have merit.1 leave it up to the reader to make an intelligent informed decision.

Several candidates had not yet filed as we went to press, this should be kept in mind when you vote.

Because of space considerations (to keep postage and printing costs down for our convention issue) I edited the candidates histories and platform keeping only the important facts, and eliminating as what I saw as chaff. Politicians have the unfortunate ability to use cumbersome phrases loaded with verbiage when a concise phrase will do as well.

Your Fearless Leader Speaks:
Steve Verdilova

As you see we have a full slate of candidates from two parties for our elections in November and I applaud them for stepping forward.

In this October issue is the official election ballot. Ballots may be mailed in if you do not plan to attend the fall convention, or dropped off at the convention until 3 PM SUN. You will be required to sign your ballet to avoid any improprieties. Good Luck to all those that are running.

Statement:
We offer officers who range across Southern Ca with a effective spread of personal contacts, knowledge of clubs and businesses throughout the region. As with all organisms it is grow or die. The best way to keep the hobby alive, is to make every effort to bring more people into the hobby. We want to promote historical gaming through demonstrations at gambits, local or regional conventions, other places where we night find prospects in other hobbies, when and where feasible We plan to operate HMGS/PSW on a sound and fiscally conservative basis, expanding operations wherever possible. We will strike a dynamic, but moderate course, covering the needs and wants of our membership as effectively as possible, If we are too conservative, stagnation sets in because there is no growth or change where needed If we are too liberal experimentation runs wild and chaos reigns. We offer you the opportunity to elect a dynamic and experienced group of officers to work for and with you to make HMGS/PSW the best it can be. Thank you. "You Deserve a Choice " Party.

Statement:
We feel that the members of HMGS/PSW deserve a choice of administration for the upcoming term of what promises to be an exciting and challenging time We offer ourselves, a mix of young, enthusiastic recent members who are not jaded and veteran members who are very obligated to HMGS. We would like to maintain much of what we now enjoy about HMGS and its conventions and still allow its growth by the inclusion of other forms of gaming not generally supported in the past If we expand our efforts to new areas such as Futuristic gaming and Warhammergroups, we can draw fm a much larger pool of potential gamers. This would allow a well rounded miniatures environment at our conventions. Only one of our members has any connection to STRATEGICON, as we wish to avoid ties to that powerful organization. We believe that HMGS should stay an independent entity, only in that way can it continue to attend to the memberships' needs. We believe we are up to that challenge to maintain independence and look forward to working with you, the members, to maintain the HMGS/PSW chapter to the highest standards. Thank you for your consideration.
