Howdy troops. Not only am I the Local Fearless leader, I am the National Fearless leader, as well. I'm just back from Historican where I had lots of fun. Good to see those PSW members out there (you know who you are). The big event for me was the National board meeting, which with it's informal meetings going on, took up must of my weekend. What I did see of the convention looked mighty interesting. Colonel W. Grey gave an excellent lecture on Napoleonic command systems. That "Grand Ole Gamer" `Uncle' Duke Siefried [He gave us, Der Kriegspielers, Wargamer s Library, Frappe, Napoleonique rules and early Custom Cast figures, Ed.] was the recipient of the Jack Scruby Award, for his efforts in the hobby. For those of you who never saw a Duke Siefried battle, the words scale and grandeur are most often used. [From a different perspective, I recall rule changes and screaming arguments, in the middle of games, but that was the '70s, we were all finding ourselves in Ohio. Wargaming has changed since then. Still I found Frappe to be an enjoyable game, Duke and our crowd had some hotly contested fights, reminiscing Ed] One of the by products of the National Board Meeting was the advance of the HMGS National Newsletter. With luck the first issue will be out in October. In local news we have a slate of candidates for our elections in November and while I applaud them for stepping forward we need opposing people to run against them to give members a choice. Those who know me., know my philosophy that occasional chnge, opinions, and options are essentual to keep a healthy. vibrant HMGS chapter from going stagnant. [Hear, Hear, Ed.] This is one of the reasons I'm leaving. Remember to check the calendar for upcoming events. The following people have announced their candidacy for the HMGS/PSW Board:
Dave Weaver - 1st Vice President William Schwartz - 2nd Vice President Caj Brejtfus - Treasurer Roger Treat - Secretary Their statements of candidacy will run in the October issue along with official ballot. Ballots may be mailed in or dropped off at the Fall convention until 3 PM. You will be required to sign your ballet to avoid any improprieties. Good Luck to that are running. Your Prez, Steve.
