Hello one and all. Welcome to the first edition of your newsletter under Stephen Phenow's editorship. There are many issues I want to mention in this column so I'll get straight to them. The Spring Convention was less than we had hoped for, especially in terms of attendance. There were only 75 paying attendees for the 15 games and tournaments that were put on. While the con took in a little over $2,000, that included the money from ten new members also the dues from continuing members. This equates to an $800 loss for the con. While this doesn't break us, it is a significant misfortune, one we cannot afford to repeat. The main causes for the lack of attendance was little advertising, and it turned out be an inconvenient time for many members to appear at. The good thing about the convention was those who came had a hell of good time. There were two Ancient tournaments, three naval games; two Ancient games; Drum Barracks Battle Group refought Brandy Station; Rich De Rosa and his group ut on a WWI battle, also on that Brandy Station board; a Jet Sortie: two Seven Years' battles, the usual rowdy Chariot race, even a Space combat simulation. I want to extend a BIG THANK YOU to all the gamemasters and organizers of the games. I also wish to thank all the vendors, most who are H.M.G.S. members, who took the time to attend. Unfortunately, I am sorry, to report that Greg Tovrea, who put on the galley game, had his laptop computer sprout legs and walk off site I find this reprehensible conduct, and I wish it returned to me with no questions asked or answered. The incident will be closed. On the other hand if it is not returned, and I find out who did it. not only will the culprit be prosecuted for petty theft, but a letter will go out explaining what they did to every miniature organization. in the country. Remember, what goes around, usually comes back around with interest! The Elections are coming. They will be handled. through the mail again, with the results announced at the Fall Con on. As of now, NO ONE has announced any desire to seek office. I myself have not decided what course to follow, but I will make a declaration one way or another in the next issue. Game Day! Game Day! We are going to have a game day! Ladies & Gentlemen, boys & girls, come one, come an, to the new Something Unusual and help celebrate their Grand Opening, 22nd of April.
