TWO YEARS! Yes I have been doing this now for two years. My how time flies while you are having fun (right Mark!!???) I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have sent in articles and made suggestions about the Messenger, it is much appreciated! Well enough back patting, on to more important matters. The November convention will be here before you know it. We already have a list of games that are being scheduled even as I write this. Rich DeRosa and the Fair Valley Wargames will be doing the 'Marne 1914' using an updated version of their Battles of the Frontiers rules. There should be lots of room for all who wan t to participate, 20+ commands (yes they do have the figures at a 1-60 scale!). There will also be a Fire and Fury club match (open to who ever wants to play), The Secret Society of Min. Wargamers is a group from San Clemente. Friedland will be run using Napoleon's Battles. There is talk of John Curran running his Ren. tournament again on Sunday. Jim Garvervill be running a SYW game in 5mm. Bob Burris will have his Zulus swarming. Robert Guyton is putting on two battles. one is Tank Charts, the other is Houserules Napoleonic. Of course Allen Hughes is sending out the call for all brave charioteers for Circus Maximus. Hill and company will be doing the Tactica siege game. There will also be a VIRG 7th ancients tournament. Steve also said there is someone coming from Nevada to run / promote his ancient galley game (we think this is in 15mm). We will have dealers at this con, as well as a small flea market table. As usual there will be a chapter meeting on Saturday after the figure raffle and painting contest. The figure raffle will have 4 units offered up. A 16 figure 15mm hoplite unit, 12 figures of 15mm Austrian Napoleonic Dragoons, 15 figures of 15mm Confederates, (all painted by Terry Stone). In addition I will be donating a 12 figure unit of 15mm Russian Dragoons. Steve informs me that it will be $1 per ticket with the drawing held at 4pni on Saturday as each ticket is picked the winner will get to pick which unit they want (i.e. the winner will get to pick from 4 units while each succeeding winner will have less to chose from). The painting contest will be held all day with the winners to be announced after the raffle is finished. Steve is looking for anyone who has a display case they would be willing to let the convention use for the painting contest, if you can help out give Steve a call. Finally if you still want to run something at the con send in the paper work Steve will try to accommodate you (even at this late date!) The Board of HMGS /PSW at this time would like to hear form anyone out there willing to take over the Newsletter. The constraints on my time in the past several months and in the near future (the wife and I are expecting a baby due in March!) I will not be able to continue to edit the newsletter after the December issue. So if there is anyone out there willing to help out please contact any of the Board members, Thanks. This past week Disney announced that it is putting its planned theme park for Virginia on hold till it can find another site. It seems that the ground swell of opposition to the park was growing day by day which brought Disney to it's senses (even as the county commissioners voted to grant Disney the necessary zoning to put the park in).
