Hello boys and our occasional girl. It's time for the post convention round up. Well those of you who attended can pretty well guess that we are not returning to the Saddleback Inn. This means though that we need to find another convention spot ASAP. Anybody with any solid leads please feel free to call a board member and tell us about it. For those of you who didn't attend or I told you I would explain it all in the newsletter, well here it is. We had a contract for the entire ballroom for all Saturday and Sunday and a separate dealers room across the hall. About 3 weeks before the con they asked us to amend the contract and give up the back portion of the ballroom on Sunday at 1/3 off the price. (This was the sized room we were actually in.) This was agreeable to us because we usually have a smaller convention group on Sunday and the tables in that space were all scheduled for open gaming only. When I arrived at the hotel the Monday before the con to give them the table set up, they informed me that they needed the back ballroom for Saturday also but had another room we could use instead. (This was the Orange room that some of you were in.) Everyday after that the hotel changed its mind on the rooms, including the Saturday of the convention. By Tuesday it had reached a point were we felt we were forced to accept the most room from the hotel we could get, run the best con that we could and deal with the hotel afterwards. On Wednesday I informed HMGS National what was going on and had arranged through them for a lawyer if needed. We have refused to pay the hotel any further money, leaving them with only our deposit. We have also sent them a 3 page letter detailing our grievances and informing them to consider themselves paid in full. Hopefully this will be the end of this and we can move forward to a bigger and better site. I hope this answers your questions and that the chapter can count on your support.
