Yet another game book is ready for sale featuring the latest Matrix Game. This time a spy scenario. "A Confederate Spy in Washington" covers espionage in the Washington DC during the American Civil War. The cast of characters includes Alan Pinkerton, John Wilkes Booth, Edwin Stanton, the US General of the moment, Abe Lincoln, his crazy wife and many others. It has three scenarios. They are as follows. 1861-62 The war has just begun. Washington is an open city. Rebels spies are flooding in to gather intelligence. Players must build up spy rings and gather secrets while evading Pinkerton's counter intelligence operatives. 1863 The Spies of Gettysburg. Washington based spies see if their can commit acts of espionage that will effect the out come of the Battle of Gettysburg. This game ends with the players arguing how the three days of Gettysburg turn out. So they know for certain if their actions had any impact of not. 1865 Assassinate the President. The war is nearly over. John Wilkes Booth and his companions seek to kidnap Lincoln. After five turns the war ends and the goal of the conspirators becomes murder. Will they succeed? "A Confederate Spy in Washington" is slightly larger that my previous games and thus sells for $12 plus $3 for shipping. If you want to order one.
