Articles and Aspects

The Matrix Gamer is about to go through another technical upgrade. You may have noticed that the MGer is late some months. This is because I am not good at getting my emailing list correct. Fortunately there is a technical solution to this problem. Melissa Barsic set up a Matrix Game list at onelist. Just click on the address and you can sign up for the list. I will be sending out future MGers via this list.

I hope that the list will be a boon to the spread of the newsletter. No longer do people have to contact me to get the stuff. So I can't mess up the address. It will also allow players to communicate their ideas to one another without they newsletter as intermediary. I really would like to see an on line community develop that is independent of Me and Hamster Press.

If you don't want to be on an other list, then I can still send the newsletter out directly to you. Just let me know - and be aware that there will be more problems because I really don't know computers.

Back issues of the MGer and EGG are available on MagWeb. I recommend you check them out. MagWeb is a great on line source of amateur wargame writing.

On the home front I've been writing MG scenarios. So far I have a spy intrigue, a murder mystery, a science fiction encounter and a fantasy quest done. These go with basic rules sets to do those types of games. They are only the first. The system is set up so that I can put out a new game by tacking on a new scenario. Now I just need money to pay for the printing!

I'm working on a miniatures battle MG that will be ready in a amateur publication format this fall. So far with it I've been able to do Bunker Hill, Hornblower 1794, Leipsig 1813, a French civil riot in 1848, a Crimean War trench assualt, a Spanish Civil War scenario "Blood on the Ebro", a WW2 what if game "London 1940", a WW2 Soviet attack on a German trench, and a Star Wars game. It works well and is a lot like Paddy Griffith's mugger game. The difference is that players seem to like it - and rather than feeling "mugged" actually want to play more! I am very encouraged.
