Articles and Aspects

It's a good thing I don't charge money for this thing. Two months between issues! Bad Chris. Of course I have no excuse. This is a learning process after all. Never be afraid to make mistakes while learning. They are the best teachers.

It is a good thing mistakes are such a good teacher because I sure make my share of them! Mainly in business and time management. But not to worry, the IRS is very forgiving if you pay them...

The last two months have been very productive in terms of getting future release Matrix Game rules together. I've cut myself off from esoteric rules sets and focused on the ones that I think will sell. The result is a draft for a spy game, murder mystery game, horror/sci fi game, fantasy game, military campaign game and partial draft of a set of MG aided miniatures rules. When they are done, and I am able to raise the printing costs, I can start churning out product. And I do mean churn. The hard work of basic rules writing is done. The rest is just scenario writing.

These games will come out as books, with a scenario in the front, map and characters included, an extensive example of play followed by a rules packet. I'm hoping it will retail for around ten dollars. This is doable if I watch my expenses.

Of course printing products is the easy part. On that Front I'm hooking up with Jim Dietz of Jolly Roger Games (Maul of America, Knights of the Dinner Table, etc) to take my products to the distributors. I am very grateful for this because I am honestly no good at that job. Jim on the other hand is a real go getter. I hope this grows into a long term mutually beneficial relationship. Three cheers for Jim!

If you go to the Hamster Press web page around the end of the month, you will find a big change. A local friend, Melissa Barsic, has done a major face lift on the old thing. It is now possible to read examples of play, see a catalogue of products, find links to other MG pages and even by my wife's jewelry and used books!

Melissa is also setting up a "list serve" or something like that for Matrix Games. This is from Allah, because that is what I really need to distribute this newsletter. It's not ready yet, but when it is, I'll send you a note. All you do is join the list and you'll get the MGer and other MG players writings delivered to you daily. I really like this because one of my weaknesses is managing my address book. This list thing takes that task out of my hands. Great!
