Editorial

This issue of the Matrix Gamer focuses on play by email Matrix Games. This is a fast growing part of the hobby and for my money offers the best hope for spreading the word about our games.

I for one am not surprised that Matrix Games work so well on the net. From the very start Matrix Games were done as play by mail games. In fact many of the rules first saw the light of day in the yearly PBM I ran in my old newsletter EGG (Experimental Game Group). Given this, doing the mailing via email was a natural.

At the end of this newsletter I describe what I would like to see develop in the Matrix Game hobby. It is an on line community where not one person needs to be in charge. In part I'm purposing this because I think it will work well. But I'm also suggesting it because as I've grown older I realize more and more of my inadequacies as a leader. I don't think I could run a traditional organization. I'm just not organized or high powered enough! Oh well, fame and fortune are not for me…
