Time to Play a Matrix Game

by Chris Engle

It's time to play a Matrix Game! I promised last month that when Ramadan ended I would run the 1880 British invasion of my made up North African country – Dar as Salaam. This issue of The Matrix Game is dedicated to setting that game up.

EVERYONE is invited to play!

To play all you have to do is email me (or the Matrix Game Onelist) your argument. Each player get to make one argument a turn. Though more arguments may be needed in a week if conflicts of trouble come up. I will email you about this when it happens.

Aside from the scenario. There is a list of characters involved in the game. You may pick one of these characters to champion. If you do and conflict or trouble come up then you will be the one who argues for them. You may alternately choose to run no character but instead be "amorphous evil" whose sole goal is to mess things up. It matters not to me.

This will be a twelve turn game. One turn a week. Email me you orders by Thursday of each week. If there are conflict or trouble you may need to make additional arguments on Friday or Saturday. I will post the results in an email message on Sunday.

If you miss a turn – oops! Well don't sweat it, just jump in on the next turn. People do not have to play every turn.

CALENDAR OF TURNS

Just to prevent end game weirdness, know that the game may end a turn early or go one a turn longer. As know that after the official "game" is over we will do a few extra arguments to find out what the aftermath is for you individual characters. So you side may lose while you personally win!

I will be emailing you a copy of the map in a separate message. I hope to have all this stuff posted on my web page http://www.io.com/~hamster along with the rules of play.

To play though all you need to do is tell me where the people you control move to (inside the area they are in) and send in an argument. By the way movement within the area you are in is free – no argument needed. Players only need to argue when they want to move to a new area.

Just so you know the scenario we are playing is the first scenario in a Matrix Game product that you can buy from me for the low low cost of $15 plus shipping. The other scenarios included – The Dervish Counter-Attack and The Hunt for Ali Baba.
