It's been a while since I have been in touch. I was reading the last issue of Lone Warrior and enjoyed it very much. Although Samurai is not necessarily my joy and delight (unlike your good self!) there were still useful mechanisms for me to ponder. I thought it was about time I submitted another couple of articles for publication, especially having seen myself in OP Archive - I must be getting really old!

The reason for my being so quiet is that I have had a variety of problems with my computer. This meant that I lost everything that I had written at one time. Fortunately I had hard copies printed and I am slowly putting stuff back on the machine. On top of that wargaming time has been severely limited for one reason and another. Reading back issues of Lone Warrior has helped to keep the flame alive!

My greetings to you and other members of the committee, and my thanks to all of you for doing so much that is unseen to keep the show on the road.

[Hi Graham] I've received my copy of Lone Warrior issue 144 but there are some "bad pages" in it.  Rob Morgan's review page 33 is only half there, from para "It comes as no surprise that where wargamers who are primarily land oriented..." so the final part of his review on the book re: Siege Mines is missing.  Also, the inside front cover and a couple of other pages in the mag are very feint (haven't reproduced well).

I was a member back in the early days of SWA, from '76, and had to stop my membership after a few years because of "family matters".  I rejoined a couple of years back and wish I'd never had to leave!  The quality of the articles is SO much better than the "glossies" -- for wargaming ideas -- that I wish I had all the editions that have been published, but I don't even have the original ones, such was the 'need' to find storage space for 'more important things' back then!

Considering that it's an amateur-run (no derision meant, merely that the "glossies" have a whole professional publishing team to get their magazines ready) I think that we are far better catered for, by you guys and the regular contributors, than the all-colour jobbies - and at a fraction of the cost!  Well done to all the SWA team, every one a winner!

[Graham got in touch with Richard and all of you will find the correct printed full copy, below, in this edition. I know Graham is having troubles with the new staff at the firm he uses and checks many a random copy but is obviously unable to do a 100% check. Must admit didn’t notice mine until received Richards redirected email – must start reading Lone Warrior again. Welcome back Richard and contact Graham to see what back copies he still has. Do look up the term ‘jobby’ in the English-Scottish dictionary. Thanks for the kind remarks, always most welcome by the Team. Kenn]

Season’s greetings to Mister Barbuto and all at SWA. It’s the off-season for archeology in the North West and one’s thoughts turn to wargaming! I haven’t been able to find anyone state-side who carries Ros – Heroics 6mm, so I’m asking if anyone knows where. I understand NAVWAR makes them and I saw the appropriate website, but they are in the UK, with all the attendant hassle and time that that entails. They are as good as 6mm gets, but hey, if one is interested in all periods of military history like I am, then that’s the scale. Space is always at a premium and I’ve decided to de-accession my 30 Years war and Late Antiquity 15mm.
