Using a computer adds another dimension for the solo wargamer. It can provide an opponent for boardgamers or as a moderator for traditionalists and also handle all the cumbersome data accumulated from campaigning. The Internet or 'Web' adds another angle as a discussion base, an opponent finder or to play by email (quicker and cheaper than playing by mail ). The other useful aspect is for research and exchange of ideas below are several of the web pages I have found most helpful: http://www.cafes.net/mcozart/games.html This site has a computerised board game that can be downloaded for FREE! http://www.magweb.com/ Wargames magazines galore (including Lone Warrior) there is a charge but it is one of the few sites that are worth paying to visit. http://tetrad.stanford.edu/DBM.html#info The DBM family of wargames page. This is an excellent site (weighted in favour of DBM) with a lot of rule variants, research info and lots more must be visited. http://www.wtj.com/ The War Times Journal downloadable wargames rules for many periods plus research info, army lists and uniform guides again all FREE! http://www.irony.com/webtools.html Map generator for use online (maps can be printed). Create any map from a dungeon to a whole world FREE! http://users.erols.com/brant/DBA/ In my opinion the best web site for wargaming I've found (if you can find better let me know). This is a site dedicated to DBA and is full of rule variants, ideas and scenarios. Including a solo version, terrain generators and lots more. Must be seen! http://www.warflag.com/default.htm Some kind person has taken the time to produce flags for many periods and make them available for free over the Internet. http://www.nelson.co.nz/wargaming/VnB.htm Campaign moderator ideal for us soloists. Handles many aspects of campaigning once set-up. Download and enjoy. Hope these are useful to everyone and don't forget to save some time for wargaming.
