20mm War of the Roses

review by Kenn Hart

The beginning of this new range of figures recently arrived and they are of a very high standard of pose and modelling. The detail on the armour must be seen to be believed. They are designed to be compatible with current plastic ranges and they are, having taken a couple up to my local shop to test this out! Other ranges planned are Scots, Irish and Welsh, will keep you informed. These pewter figures are crisp in their detail and paint up very well. Cost is 30p per Foot/Rider figure and 60p horse. There are a number of variants on each figure.

Mounied Knight. Sword raised on high in his righl hand the lefl conlrolling his stecd Mounted Msn-st-Arms Lancc vertical and fect pushed well fonward in his stirrups I would be sorely lempted to stick a nag/baxmerlpendent on it.

Armoured horse. Imprcssive as a model and daunthlg in real life! Sturdy well proportioned horse well protected from head to tail. Horse Face and neck protected by armour but the rest of the animal is unarmoured and is very well sculplured. Both the riders fit comfortably on both of the horses which makes them inter-changeable.

Dismounted knight. Slashing with raised sword in right hand and just in case that docs not do the job he has a mace in his left in reserve.

Dismounted Men-at-Arms. Sword raised in right hand in the "Follow me, chaps!" gesture or high parry with his left arm held back and his hand clutching his dirk. Excellent action pose.

Armoured Billman. Energetic pose with the bill held forward slanting up to about eye level while the man strides purposely on. Billman Appears to be inviting trouble wilh a mounted adversary and his bill is raised accordingly. An usual but interesting pose.

Armoured Longhow Man. I believe this figure has just released his arrow and is observing its flight. Arrows in a small quiver hanging from his right, underneath his right hand

"Liveried" Longbow Man. Makes an excellent second ranker and is aiming just above the head of the previous figure. Arrow ready for release and quivcr in the same place as above.
