Passing of Time and New Products

by Sir Chris Parker

Greetings fellow knights

It has been a few years since the last Knights Round Table. A lot has passed both in life and Day of Battle in that time. There is new a Second Edition available of both Day of Battle and On Holy Ground. Each book has been expanded and streamlined. DoBII is nearly twice as large in page count with all new domains. The personality section of the rules are greatly enhanced. Furthermore the game has been rolled back to 1050AD and forward to 1450AD.

The core game is now set in the early feudal period. Later sourcebooks will move the rules forward into the future. Missile fire is much more in line in this edition. I felt that the missile fire in first edition was to deadly and this was backed up from feedback from you the players. Second edition really watered it down. Finally the knight truly rules the field again. The Weapon of Choice has been modified, knights are now at the top of the food chain. Spears are no longer at the top. This is due to much more feedback and research backing up that fact. The infantry in general was terrible. They generally were used in seiges, otherwise they stood around and waited the outcome.

The two top spear domains, Scots and Lowlands are not in DoBII. These will be releases soon and will be given special rules to allow them to to stand up to knights.

On Holy Ground has been expanded to cover all three of the Crusades in The East. These rules are pretty much untouched. They have been brough up to speed and the armies expanded. The new book has 10 domains divided up into an early and a late Crusader period.

So I hope you enjoy this issue.

Sir Chris
