25mm Anglo-Irish Conflict 1917-21

by Brad Smith

Greg Blake of CFM must be one of the most prolific figure makers in the country - it was only last issue that we displayed some examples of his latest figure range - "The Troubles" (the Anglo-Irish conflict 1917-21 & the Irish Civil War 1921-22). Since then he has sent us a plethora of new additions to the range and even some from yet another era - Italian Colonials (1880- 96). Not bad going when you consider that the entire CFM operation is a one-man show! Included in the latest batch are half a dozen additions to the IRA figures - all based on actual personalities - (and testament to the meticulous research Greg undertakes to accurately produce these figures), listed as follows: [top row, L-R]

T10 - Brian Kelliher (in uniform firing Broomhandle Mauser)
T18 - Daniel Boyle (Masked face, sawn-off shotgun)
T14 - "Long Tom" McGuiness
[third row, L-R]
T11 - Michael Shanahan (with .303 & holstered pistol)
T12 - IRA Piper (inspired by "Flurry" Begley, piper for Cork No.3 Bde)
T15 - Bobby O'Malley (with Colt semi-automatic)
Additions to the Forces of the Crown [second row, L-R]:
T13 - Special Branch officer ? (with overcoat & drawn pistol)
T17 - British army regular (with overcoat, 08 webbing)
T16 - Royal Irish Constabulary Auxiliary

Also sent for our delectation is [left] the mounted figure of the one-armed Loring Pasha (the eccentric former Confederate general) from the Egyptian Army of the Sudan.

Last but not least are the first of the new Italian Colonial series: Infantryman (IC1) & Officer (IC2). Infantry comes with different faces and a bare-headed variants; Bersaglieri & Cacciatori de Africa versions are in production.
