Flags of the Napoleonic Wars

Created by British military author/authority Alan Pendlebury, this site has to be one of the best of its kind on flags of the Napoleonic Wars. For sheer amount of detail and coverage of this period I think it may even top Ian Croxall's "Warflags" (and, like many wargamers I have used Ian's site many times) I recently came across this site through the Napoleonic Wars site and discovered examples of the of nearly every protagonist in the Napoleonic Wars as well as short but succinct histories of them.

The following armies and contingents are covered: Austria, Baden, Kleve-Berg, Naples, Netherlands, Bavaria, Brunswick, Denmark, Portugal, France, Prussia, Great Britain, Saxony, Hesse Kassel, Hesse Darmstadt, Westphalia, Wurttemburg, Italy and a plethora of the smaller German states and principalities (which are usually hard to find!) Still to come are Sweden, Spain, Hannover, Russia & Poland.

There are detailed instructions on how to print them out and get the best results. The flag graphics themselves are of a very high quality - the detail I saw on the Prussian flags was the best I have seen anywhere - quite superb. They are also made to just the right dimension for 25mm figures and the best part is - they're available to download & print for free!

You may email Alan with any question about the subject. If he doesn't know the answer straight-off he will use his small legion of expert contacts to find out and will give you a prompt and good-humoured answer. Highly recommended for any serious wargamer seeking accurate information on and reproductions of flags - in fact, this site is worth a visit from any Napoleonic enthusiast!

It's ideal for getting those essential banners to finish off that new unit.
