Recently I was sent a selection of the Battlefront Miniatures 15mm to review for the magazine. Although I have had little to do with the period in either a gaming sense nor for that matter as a result of figure painting the quality of the resin and metal tank kit I received impressed me greatly. The M4 A3 Sherman, pictured below, is exceptionally well proportioned compared to some of the 20mm stuff that I have seen advertised. The ease of assembly, robustness of resin and metal versus plastic kits is a great plus. If I have a criticism it is that some of the underside of the resin tank hull is a bit rough, requiring some file work to be able to seat the metal track sections properly. The quality of casting of the metal parts is excellent, with minimal flash and good quality metal. With this robust type of model little can go wrong either in transport or with those ever-present dangers on the gaming table. At $9.95 per model, the price is an added bonus, especially as it is so rare these days to get good quality wargaming models for so cheap a price.
Overall – quite reasonable figures and model kits, an extensive range available and you can't argue with the price! So, if your thinking of doing some WWII Spearhead or Rapidfire and don't want to bust the piggybank then I suggest that you take a look at the Battlefront 15mm range, available through Essex Miniatures Australia.
