Range Battalion have continued to enter the 25mm figure market with the release of a new Bavarian Infantry and Danish cavalry ranges. Andrew of Battalion has kindly sent me samples of the new range which includes centre company, elite company and command figures for the Bavarians and a solitary Danish Cavalry man.Quality All samples were very cleanly cast with no excess flash with very good detail to the figures. The quality of the metal is good. Design The infantryman have been adapted from Battalions Universal ranges and the Centre and Elite company figures are well formed in the standard march attack pose. The Cen tre company figures have figures which look to the front as well as to the side which provides a little more animation to the unit. The Bavarian command figures are in standard poses with the drum to the front, the officers sword on the shoulder and the standard bearer carried the staff to his front. One disappointing aspect of the command group is that the legs of the officer and the standard bearer are somewhat thinner than the rest of the body and are shorter compared to the infantryman. The Danish Cavalryman is in the standard at the shoulder pose and has the shabraque attached to the figure. Andrew informed me that this figure is yet to have more detail added to the shabraque which at the moment in just plain with a rounded front and a pointed rear. The figure fits snugly onto the horse which is standing with the head slightly lowered. The horse is quite large and looks like a heavy horse. I have no indications whether Battalion will do light and heavy horses to date. Overall the design are good and the addition of Australian manufactured figures is most welcome. Cost and Availability The infantry are available in packs of 10 figures for $18.50 although you are able to buy single figures from Battalion which is much needed as you will end up with odd figures if you were forced to buy the bags of 10.
