Welcome to King or Parliament!

Editorial

by Mark Turnbull

My aim with this online magazine is to highlight not only the English Civil War, but people and events, which have been long forgotten, for the memory of those brave soldiers, of both sides, who fought heroically for the cause they espoused and to promote the events of the English Civil War.

In this Golden Jubilee Special Issue, I hope such features as polls provide interest as it would be a curious insight into what we think today of the events of 360 years ago. It also provides stimulus for readers to get involved in the magazine and I would ask for any feedback or suggestions for articles to be sent to me: mark@kingorparliament.com

I have been interested in the English Civil War since I was a young child, no idea where this sprung up in particular, but it has given me huge enjoyment and interest over the years, prompting me to write a book (first chapter can be seen in issue 1) , which is unpublished at the moment and also to experience re-enactment, by joining The Sealed Knot.

I hope pleasure and interest is found by readers and also point out that further information about my book and the period can be found at my own website: www.kingorparliament.com

If anyone is unsure about the Golden Jubilee, it is an event, which celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’s 50th year on the throne of Great Britain. I have an article about the Queen in this special issue.

Thanks for taking the time to read this editorial and my magazine, I hope you get as much enjoyment as I did in writing it - I would love to hear from anyone interested in the period too!

(If anyone reading this is an agent/publisher, then I would be pleased send you more information about my book, should you be interested.)
