What's Going on with the Chapter?

Issues Now Before the GL Board

by Tom Bryant

There have been some rather exciting decisions and developments with the Board these past couple of months. There are ongoing efforts to improve our dealer selection at Advance The Colors and produce a CD archive of The Herald for sale to the membership. Along with this, we are looking for some input on our website. Now, many of you have been asking for an improvement in selection of our dealers.

This has been a priority for us and we've finally come up with a list, with your help. Jack Shaw, Steve Smith, Mike Demana, David van Hoose and myself are on the Dealer Committee. We're sending out mailers including a letter of introduction, a color brochure of The Heritage Center (ATC's site), a sample The Herald and a copy of 2004's ATC program. Here is a list of the dealers we have contacted so far: Band of Brothers, Barb's Bunker, Brigade Games, Grandiosity, Imperialist Enterprises, Last Square, Navigator, The Quartermaster, 19th Century Miniatures, Old Glory, Outland of PA, Panzerschiffe, RLBPS, Vatican Enterprises, Wargames, Inc.

Now, we have gotten a pretty good list for this year, but we are always looking for more information and dealer contacts. If there is somebody on this list that you would really like to see, please contact us! We'll hunt 'em down and try to get them for you.

Recently, there was a discussion online about possibly putting The Herald on CD-ROM as an archive. It is anticipated that each CD will contain six issues or "one year's" worth of Heralds. The targetted rollout date is at our first convention of 2005: Warband. See Mike Demana's article on page 18.

Finally, our webmaster Terry Cabak sparked a brief discussion on our Yahoo group that got me thinking. Terry remarked as to how the website really could have more content. I agreed to help out. In the course of the discussion, we talked about some things that could be added, including:

  • An "In this issue" column, describing briefly what's in the current issue of The Herald.
  • A few good articles from past Heralds to help "hook" folks into joining.
  • Some club pages to help let folks know what's going on. It would be great to have some pages for local clubs and groups to tell, not just our membership, but visitors as well.
  • Also, a few battle reports from conventions would also be neat to have, too. What we need is more ideas for this.

That's where you can help! Send your ideas about the website to Terry, the rest of the Board, or me. Also, please, please, PLEASE contact with more dealers you'd like to see at our cons, and any other ideas you may have to help us out.
